The holiday season is upon us! While the holidays bring lots of fun and cheer, it’s important to remember that they can take a toll on your home – especially your floors! We’ve put together some of our favorite tips on making sure your home is ready for the holidays.

Protect Your Floors

Holiday parties and out-of-town visitors means your floors will see extra foot traffic over the next month or two. Protect your floors from wear and tear by laying down doormats, rugs and runners. We recommend placing indoor and outdoor doormats on each side of every door into your home. Entryways, hallways and kitchens also get a lot of foot traffic around the holidays, so consider investing in some rugs and runners to keep your floors looking like new! Snow, mud and salt can damage your floors over time, so encourage guests and family members to remove their shoes when entering your home.

Before you break out your holiday decorations, take some time to de-clutter your home. Focus on your efforts on side tables, coffee tables, console tables, mantles, and shelves. These are prime areas for displaying your holiday decorations, but they are also areas that tend to collect clutter. Throw away, file or store any loose items that are taking up space and collecting dust!

Deep Clean

It’s a great idea to deep clean your home before your guests arrive or before you host your annual holiday party. A deep cleaning can take some time, so it’s important to plan ahead. It’s ideal to do your deep clean before you break out your holiday decorations, so you aren’t trying to mop around your Christmas tree or dust between snowman figurines. Spend extra time on areas of your home that will get used most frequently during the holidays, such as your kitchen, living room, guest room and bathrooms.
